Overview
Severe bleeding from deep wounds can become life-threatening within minutes. In many trauma situations, controlling that bleeding requires wound packing that reaches the source of hemorrhage rather than relying on surface pressure alone. Hemostatic gauze adds another layer of capability by helping form a stable clot while filling the wound cavity.

Celox™ Z-Fold Gauze is a chitosan-based hemostatic gauze designed for major external bleeding control. This version provides the same core function as Celox rolled gauze but in a Z-fold configuration for a lower profile package and more controlled application. It is intended for wound packing in severe arterial or venous bleeding, including traumatic injuries from gunshots, blasts, knives, and shrapnel.

How It Works
Celox works by interacting with blood at the source of bleeding to help form a robust clot. The gauze is packed directly into the wound, where the coated fibers contact blood and support rapid hemostasis. Once packed, direct pressure is applied to help stabilize the dressing and control the hemorrhage.

The Z-fold format allows the gauze to feed smoothly during application, reducing bulk and helping the responder maintain control while packing the wound. The material can be torn to the needed length without scissors, and excess agent forms a gelled mass that can later be irrigated from the wound during definitive care.
