Overview
Bleeding control is the first priority in trauma care. Even relatively small wounds can continue bleeding if they are not properly packed and compressed. Hemostatic gauze is designed to help control bleeding more quickly than standard gauze by supporting the body’s natural clotting process while filling the wound cavity.

ChitoGauze® OTC is a chitosan-impregnated hemostatic gauze that combines the familiar handling of traditional gauze with enhanced bleeding control properties. The flexible dressing conforms easily to irregular wound shapes and can be packed into wounds where direct pressure alone may not be enough. The proprietary chitosan is fully integrated into the dressing to avoid particle shedding into the wound.

How It Works
ChitoGauze functions similarly to standard wound packing gauze but incorporates chitosan, a hemostatic agent derived from natural sources. When the gauze is packed into a wound and pressure is applied, the chitosan interacts with blood to support rapid clot formation while the gauze structure absorbs blood and fills the wound cavity.

The flexible gauze conforms to tissue surfaces and wound channels, allowing effective packing into deeper or irregular injuries. The dressing is Z-folded inside a sterile package so it feeds smoothly during application, which helps maintain control while packing the wound and applying sustained compression.
