Rescue Essentials® IM-PAL® — Impaled Object Stabilization Device

Overview
Impaled objects present a unique trauma challenge. Removing them in the field can worsen bleeding and tissue damage, so the priority is usually to stabilize the object, limit movement, and prepare the patient for transport. In practice, responders often have to improvise with gauze, tape, or bulky dressings, which takes time and may not hold securely.

The Rescue Essentials® IM-PAL® was designed specifically to stabilize small to medium impaled objects. Instead of relying on improvised solutions, it provides a dedicated system for securing objects such as knives, scissors, or similar debris so they remain as stable as possible during treatment and movement.

How It Works
The IM-PAL uses simple ready-to-use components that are positioned around the impaled object to limit movement and create stability. Once placed, the device helps secure the object against the body surface without requiring the responder to build an improvised support from loose supplies.
