Overview
Wound packing gauze is one of the most important tools for managing serious bleeding. Packing gauze directly into a wound allows pressure to reach the source of bleeding while absorbing blood and supporting compression. Because of this, packing gauze is a foundational component of most trauma kits.

Rescue Essentials® Compressed Gauze provides sterile wound packing material in a tightly vacuum-packed format designed for compact trauma kits and IFAKs. Once opened, the gauze expands to provide over four yards of material for packing wounds or reinforcing compression dressings.

How It Works
The gauze is compressed into a small vacuum-sealed package to minimize storage space. When opened, the 6-ply cotton bandage expands to full length and can be packed directly into a wound cavity.

The absorbent cotton structure helps fill wound channels and absorb blood while allowing sustained pressure to be applied. It is commonly used alongside compression bandages to help control serious bleeding.
